I bought my first oil paints whilst on holiday in St Ives, Cornwall more than forty years ago.
Initially I found oils difficult to control after using watercolour but gradually an individual style emerged - painting with a palette knife.
That’s not to say my paintings need viewing from a distance and that paint is applied in a heavy manner, in fact my style is quite refined given that I use a knife.
I do attract commissions for ‘house portraits’
Recently one of my works exhibited at The Lichfield Society’s exhibition was commended for its architectural merit.
Finding new subjects to paint is always a problem so I gather information whilst on holiday in Scotland, the Lake District, Devon or Cornwall.
Since I retired I paint most days at my home in Shenstone.
