Members Gallery > Royston Evans's Gallery

Royston's love of the sea and marine subjects originate from his experience in the Royal Navy during the second world war and during the Korean war as a reservist. On return to civilian life he studied at St Martin's school of Art and at the Hammersmith Art College, and pusued his interest in watercolours. But commercial and financial interests at London advertising agencies and marketing communications appointments soon became the main priorities and painting necassarily had to be delayed for many years.

It was only when it became necessary to retire that Royston had an opportunity to renew his interest in art generally, and watercolour painting in particular.

Royston's preferred subjects are harbours, marine locations and landscapes, but commissions often require architectural work.

Royston has been an active member of the Lichfield Society of Artists since 1989 and a long standing committee member. He is currently President of the Society and an active supporter of the campaign to improve the visual art facilities in Lichfield.

Images from top are, Porthleven Harbour, St Ives Harbour, Bishops Palace Lichfield all in watercolour.
