ALAN BATES
Having been a miner for most of my working life. I started painting as a hobby after being forced into early retirement. That was about twelve years ago.
Not even knowing the basics of either drawing or painting I went to classes and for a number of years had one to one tuition. Watercolour is the medium I enjoy working in and
ideas for my paintings come from holiday photographs and places I know.
Buildings and seascapes are my inspiration.
