JOAN R MOORE
Lichfield Society of Artists
I have been a member of the Lichfield Society of Artists for a number of years now, and as a practising musician I have developed a passion for portraying musicians with their instruments in various guises, whether in portrait mode or semi-abstract.
In all my paintings I strive to capture movement and light to give a natural interpretation of my subjects, and I find that the fluidity and transparency of watercolour paint is ideal for these purposes, although I also work in pastels and acrylics occasionally.
I draw inspiration for my paintings from various musical members of my family – both young and old – and musical friends who have the patience to cope with me and my camera!
As well as my musical paintings I enjoy depicting light and atmosphere in sea-scapes and land-scapes, and painting flowers in their natural state when they are in season.
Although I came to painting and drawing relatively late in life, with no formal training in my youth, I cannot imagine my life now without this wonderful means of escape and fulfilment, and I will continue to strive for the ever-elusive perfect picture!
The images shown here are sample of my work. If you would like to see a broader range then feel free to contact me at  www.musicmaker3@talktalk.net
